Sonex Aircraft the kitplane maker is looking to introduce the homebuilt aircraft culture to mainland China. At the EAA AirVenture this week, Sonex Aircraft which is based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, announced that it had collaborated on a partnership with the Chinese firm Uniworld in order to promote its line of aircraft kits and AeroConversion product line in China. By adopting a multi-tier strategy consisting of immersion in the Chinese training infrastructure for GA pilots and technicians, governmental advocacy and fanning the flames of growth for its recreational aviation enthusiast base. Sonex has selected Beijing Aviation Technology (BAT) as a franchisee and named Uniworld’s Francis Chao as the director of Sonex operations in China. Read more >>
Every year The U.S. Space & Rocket Center and long-term partner Honeywell hosts over 200 teachers from 25 countries and 36 U.S. states and territories at the HESA (Honeywell Educators at Space Academy) which spans over the course of two consecutive weeks in the month of June. Sukhoi has started a project on building a larger version of the super-jet 100. There hasn’t been much marketing on the new jet but the designs have been clearly made and clearly show that the new super jet is going to seat from 20 to 120 extra seats per jet. Nazario Cauceglia, the CEO of super Jet International has stated the new design of the Sukhoi 120 seat superjet is not going to the narrow plane market. Also, Sukhoi SSJ100 had two different versions where two different types of the winglets used on their aircraft, one was set at 1,500 nm and the other was set at 2,400 nm. First Delivery of Pratt & Whitney Modified A320neo Engines has arrived at Airbus group; whereby it will be installed on the Airbus A320neo. The new engines’ hardware has been modified to speed up the start time of the PW1100. Clients awaiting the new engine include Lufthansa and IndiGo; who plan to equip it in their PW1100G-powered aircraft. However, with the arrival of the new engine, not everyone is on board. Operators such as Qatar Airways has expressed that they have no interest in the new A320neo Engines; until the new aircraft start-time requirements are similar to those of A320s powered with in-service CFM International CFM56 or International Aero Engines V2500 engines. Delta Air Lines, the major American airline headquartered at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, has recently come to an agreement with Airbus, the civil aircraft manufacturer based in France, in order to purchase 37 additional A321ceo aircrafts. These newly ordered aircrafts will be utilized in efforts to renew and revitalize Delta Air Lines’ narrow body fleet. Airbus is working hard to meet a target of 50 deliveries by this year’s end and has delivered its 24th A350-900 twin-aisle twinjet, the first to Cathay Pacific Airways, which is scheduled to enter service on June 1st. Airbus Chief Operating Officer Tom Williams has labeled the effort as one of two principal challenges for this year, the other being Airbus’s plans to accelerate the production of the A320 single-aisle twinjets. With over 40 widebody machines in the final stages of assembly in Toulouse, France, Executive Vice President Didier Evrard has placed a mandate to protect the A350 ramp-up project. Didier Evrard succeeded Williams last year as overseer of the programs and has said that the first 350-1000 variant, the 59th A350, is proceeding exactly on schedule. Read more >>
